
TRAVEL GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGHER STUDIES IN THE U.S.
Indo-American Society is a non-political, non-profit making, and non-sectarian Society. Since its inception in 1959, it has been actively involved in promoting goodwill, understanding, friendship, and co-operation between the peoples of India and the United States of America.
For the year 2009 the following 2 travel grants and scholarships have been announced:

One Travel Grant is reserved for Indo-American Society members and/or their children and corporate members, their employees and children. One Travel Grant is reserved for Non- IAS members.
Terms And Conditions
1. Eligibility:
Students must have secured a good percentage/grade at their graduation levels.
Students must have admissions to pursue Graduation/ Post Graduation or equivalent or higher degree in the U.S., preferably from a reputed university
In the case of non-IAS members, the applicants must be Greater Mumbai residents for the last five years and have a degree from a University in Mumbai
2. The following categories of students are not eligible:
who have had the opportunity of studying abroad previously.
who are already studying abroad.
who are employed.
3. All corporate members of the Indo-American Society can put this or a suitable notice on their notice boards or send a circular to their employees to inform them of this benefit.
4. Application forms can be obtained from June 1, 2009 to June 15, 2009 at the IAS Office on payment of Rs.100, between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday (except holidays).
5. All Applications should reach the IAS office no later than 5:00 pm on June 18, 2009. For the Reserved seat a photocopy of the membership card should be attached to the application form before submitting. No forms will be accepted without a photocopy of the membership card.
6. The Chairman, Travel Grants and Scholarship Subcommittee, will scrutinize the forms. The main criteria for selection will be percentage of marks and academic brilliance. In the case of a tie, the following criteria will be considered:
- The family income of the applicant’s parents. Students whose family income does not exceed Rs.1,20,000/- a year will be given priority over others.
- Other scholarships or grants received by the student.
7. Applicants who fail to give full details, as required, will not be considered.
8. After the initial screening of the applications, candidates will be called for an interview.
9. The Travel Grants/Scholarships will be given by cheque in Indian rupees to the selected applicants by the end of June 2009.
10. There is no commitment from IAS that these Travel Grants/ Scholarships will be a continuing feature.
11. The IAS Managing Committee reserves the right to change the rules and regulations pertaining to these programmes.
